Matt has been awesome to have not only as a chaplain but also as a genuine friend at Toulouse Olympique. He has offered a helping hand wherever he can. I think just to have him present has been important in building the trust amongst the team. Especially with us foreigners who don’t have much family around, Matt has made himself available if we need to talk to someone whenever possible. I hope he’ll be with the club long term even after I’m gone, because it’s the considerate, caring and supportive people like Matt that all clubs need. Thank you bro.

For me, having a Chaplain in the club has been massive and one of the most important resources during my time here in France. Our Chaplain, Matt, is not only there for us boys who are religious but he’s there for all the players and staff who might just need a friend to speak to, or just a coffee to catch up just to chat. For me personally, I ruptured my achilles tendon last season and during my time in rehabilitation, Matt was always there for me mentally and emotionally which obviously plays a massive part in a Professional sports environment. Of recent, myself and a couple other boys in the team have started a bible study group and meet in the morning 2-3 times a week, which Matt attends physically when he can or via zoom call (as Matt was out of the country) For my ‘return to play’ and mental state this group has been unreal. Not only to bring me closer with my religion but that mental support, I don’t think I could have done it without them.

“Having Matt as the chaplain for Toulouse Olympique is a real asset for the players. For those who want it, he offers a caring ear and is always there whenever they need help.”
